 Merkley's new Online Customer Portal is scheduled to roll out to all business customers by the end of 2011. This web-based tool will allow repeat Merkley Supply customers to perform the following tasks online: - Place an order - Track an order - See current and past invoices/balances  - Request a quote - and more! Currently in beta testing, the tool will also allow customers to view proof of receipt, credit notes, statements, pricing, addresses and contacts any time of the day. Stay tuned for further details! The Brick Peddlers Ride Again ...................................................................................................  On September 10th staff (and friends) of Merkley Supply will once again don their bright orange Brick Peddler jerseys and spandex shorts to bike 100 km and raise funds for cancer research at The Ottawa Hospital. Last year, Merkley Supply fielded the largest team in the inaugural Ride the Rideau fundraising event which was coordinated by The Ottawa Hospital Foundation. Our team raised an incredible $134,000 in support of the Centre for Innovative Cancer Research and we plan to surpass that total this year. Our goal is to once again be the top fundraising team – and make the biggest impact in the fight against cancer!  Experience the ride through last year's video. Why Ride? Cancer is the leading cause of premature death in Canada and close to half of us will be diagnosed with some form of this disease in our lifetime. While this is a sobering statistic, the good news is that survivorship is on the rise. Why? Robert Merkley Wins CCA Community Leader Award .................................................................................................................................... For his role in the building community, Merkley Supply President and CEO, Robert Merkley was recently awarded the Canadian Construction Association (CCA) Community Leader Award. Robert Merkley was recognized for his roles as Chairman of the Ottawa Construction Association; Chairman of  the Ottawa Carleton Homebuilders Association; and Board Member of the Canadian Construction Association, the National Capital Heavy Construction Association and the Ontario Masonry Association. The CCA also recognized Robert's many volunteer and community achievements with the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, the Boys and Girls Club Camp Smitty, the Hospice at May Court and Roger's House. Congratulations Robert! MSL 2011 Wrap-Up .........................................................................................................................................  MSL 2011 was a resounding success! With more than 1200 attendees, the 20th anniversary event was both memorable and educational!  This year's show marked the addition of 14 educational seminars from exhibitors which were well attended and received positive reviews. A post-show survey revealed that: - 92% of seminar attendees reported that they learned something new from the seminars - 95% of seminar attendees said that they would likely attend a seminar next year Due to the popularity of this year's seminars, MSL 2012 will feature an expanded seminar schedule. Planning is already underway for next year's show. Expect a "save the date" e-mail early in the new year.
